BBB Releases New Warning about Moving Companies

COLUMBUS (Dawn Faugl) — Before you move into a new home, the Better Business Bureau says there are several moving companies you don’t want to hire. The BBB released its list of top moving companies with an F rating; six of them don’t even have a license with the Public Utitlities Commission.
John Eaches says he hired one of the companies on the list, Kings Royalty Moving on the far east side, to help him move to his new home in Delaware. He says they broke the two piece of furniture he specifically asked them to be careful with, including a cabinet he’d gotten from his great grandmother.
When he tried to file an insurance claim with the company, Eaches says no one at the company would answer the phone. So he and his girlfriend filed a complaint with the BBB.
The group says people looking to hire movers are often making the same mistake, and hiring the cheapest.
“They end up contracting with an individual who has no insurance, no license,” Joan Coughlin with BBB of central Ohio said. “Last year we received over 135 million inquiries on moving companies, and 7000 complaints.”
The list of top companies with an F rating include:
- A Family Moving Company in Heath
- Good Hands Moving near Gahanna
- Hercules Movers of Columbus
- Integrity First Moving on far west side
- Quality Moves in Blacklick
- Kings Royalty Moving on far east side.
